How to Replace a Battery in X-Sense Smoke or CO Alarms

Mon, Apr 26, 2021

The batteries of a smoke detector and a carbon monoxide detector are consumable. There are many kinds of smoke detectors.  Some devices are wireless but exclusive to detecting smoke (e.g. XS01-WT Smart smoke detector) while others can identify carbon monoxide (e.g. X-sense CO03B/CO03D Carbon Monoxide detector). Their energy life span depends on their manufacturers. For first-timers, changing the batteries may be daunting. However, it is not impossible to do. This article will teach you how to replace batteries in your smoke and CO alarms.

How to Replace the Smoke and CO Detector Battery

When the X-sense or carbon monoxide alarm has reached its lifespan (meaning that the time-based energy source is consumed), there is a need for its batteries to be replaced. For example, the XS01-WT Smart smoke detector has a battery life span of one year. While the CO03b or CO03D carbon monoxide detector has a battery life span of ten years. When these batteries' energy sources are consumed, one has to change batteries.

1. Replace 3V Battery in X-Sense XS01-WT Wi-Fi Smoke Detector

  • Remove the smoke alarm from the attachment site by rotating the detector towards the left in a counterclockwise position.
  • Tug the battery tab to detach the battery. Replace with a brand-new battery in the socket. Make sure to follow the position of the battery corresponding to the positive/negative signs.
  • Check if the smoke alarm is working and replace it with the attachment sign by rotating the detector to the right in a clockwise manner.

    2. Replace Battery in X-Sense Carbon Monoxide Detector

    For X-Sense CO03B Carbon Monoxide Detector (9 V Battery)

When the battery power source runs out, the Lb icon on the display appears and yellow lights flash once every minute as the beeper rings. Detach the consumed battery and change with an alkaline-based 9-volt battery. Check if the alarm is working by clicking the test/hush button after battery replacement.

    For X-Sense CO03D Carbon Monoxide Detector (1.5 V Battery)

There are certain LR6 AA battery brands that are advisable for this detector (such as Energizer E91, Golden Power GLR6A, Gold Peak 15A, and Duracell MN1500). When the Lb icon is displayed and the yellow light flashes every minute as the beeper rings, this indicates that the battery has to be replaced. Attach three new AA batteries and restart the alarm. Check if the alarm is working by clicking the test/hush button after battery replacement.
