Bought a number of combo detectors. Only some could be added in the app. Only some would link to base station. Directions are horrible for troubleshooting problems. Unfortunately I can’t send back as were purchased as a gift months ago.

My old smoke detector had reached its 10-year lifespan, and my CO detector was over 7 years old, so it was time for an upgrade. With its remote monitoring capabilities, this seemed like a great improvement. To my surprise, my old sensors were also X-Sense, and they had performed flawlessly over the years.
This new detector does not disappoint-it feels high-quality in every way. The app is well-designed and makes setup straightforward. The device itself is made from durable plastic with well-fitted metal grille inserts. Installation was simple: mount the base plate to the ceiling and twist the sensor on.
The internal components include a well-made circuit board powered by an Espressif ESP32 microcontroller-a solid choice for anyone familiar with modern electronics. If nothing else, when the detector reaches its expiration date, you'll have a microcontroller to experiment with!
Performance-wise, it works perfectly. I tested the smoke detector over a fire and the CO detector with car exhaust. The alarm sounds immediately, and a few seconds later, I received a notification on my phone. A standout feature is that if CO levels exceed a certain threshold, the alarm cannot be silenced-a thoughtful and potentially life-saving design.
My only complaint is that the device relies entirely on cloud connectivity for notifications, meaning it requires an internet connection to send alerts. I'd prefer a local reporting option to integrate directly with smart home systems like Home Assistant. While this could theoretically be solved with custom firmware for the microcontroller, the current setup works well for the vast majority of users. However, like many cloud-based systems, there's always the risk that the servers could be shut down, leaving the monitoring function obsolete.
The cost might seem a bit high at first glance, but keep in mind you're getting both a CO detector and a smoke detector with advanced controllers and remote monitoring. In that context, the price is actually quite reasonable for what you're getting.
Overall, this is a well-built, efficient detector that adds peace of mind and is a worthy investment for home safety.
